Word has arrived that director Sidney Lumet, 86, has died.

A dozen reasons to honor the late Sidney Lumet:

Henry Fonda and E. G. Marshall in “12 Angry Men”
Joanne Woodward and Anna Magnani in “The Fugitive Kind”
Dean Stockwell, Katharine Hepburn and Jason Robards Jr. in “Long Day’s Journey Into Night”
Juano Hernandez in “The Pawnbroker”
Vanessa Redgrave in “The Sea Gull”
Wendy Hiller and Ingrid Bergman in “Murder on the Orient Express”
Nick Nolte in “Q & A”

Admit it: There’s no character in non-documentary films that you have hated more than Victor Jory’s in “The Fugitive Kind”!

  1. He will be missed. Prince of the City and 12 Angry Men are two of my favourites. Have you seen Lumet’s Running on Empty, Mr Grunes? It is perhaps his most underrated picture.
